The Interview

What does “going the extra heat (mile)” mean to you and what motivates you to go the extra heat in your role?

Establishing and maintaining long lasting relationships with our customers. Understanding the challenges they are faced with and providing refractory solutions to complement their steel making process.

What do you enjoy most about being part of the Mayerton team?

The wealth of experience we have at Mayerton is a great benefit to myself, I appreciate all the time my colleagues take in sharing they knowledge to help me grow mine.

How do you approach keeping up with industry changes and improving your skills?

I believe LinkedIn is a very useful tool for keeping up with industry changes. Learning, adopting and improving our skills, from what we learn across the world, is a great way of always moving forward and not standing still.

Is there a particular value or aspect of Mayerton culture that resonates with you? How does our company culture inspire you to take on challenges?

I feel that the philosophy we have at Mayerton is “we supply more than just bricks we supply solutions”. We take great pride understanding industry challenges and providing innovative solutions. We achieve this by collaborating across departments, learn along with our customers how solutions can bring a benefit to them and by providing excellent on site service, following our product closely from, build – in service – demolition. The efforts we make to achieve this is what allows us to stand out from the rest.

What advice would you give to others who want to make a difference in their roles? How do you think your efforts make a difference to our customers or team?

Sharing your experiences with people either professionally or personally is a great way to reach your goals. It has been a great benefit to myself over the years and hopefully the knowledge I absorb, I can pass on to future generations to come.

What skills or qualities do you bring that you feel enhance our team’s performance?

I think I am hard working, willing to learn, listen, reliable and quick to adopt to situations. I will always be available help if require or share knowledge I may have to make someone’s day easier.

What’s a memorable piece of advice or experience that shaped how you approach your work?

“Everyday a school day”, you are never to old to learn.

What part of your role do you look forward to each day?

The feeling you get from working on a project and seeing it becoming a success for both ourselves and the customer is so rewarding.

What’s the best part of your day, and why?

After a productive and busy day at work, my favourite thing to do is play with my son and with the weather improving it is even better as we get to go on the back garden and kick the football about, hearing him laugh, fills my heart with joy.
