What does “going the extra heat (mile)” mean to you and what motivates you to go the extra heat in your role?
It’s in the Mayerton DNA to always go the “extra heat” it is what makes Mayerton stand out from other refractory suppliers it means so much to me from a personal perspective to be able to help Mayerton go the “extra heat”.
What’s a challenge you’ve faced recently, and how did you overcome it?
My biggest recent challenge has been to help Mayerton establish a new market presence in a very competitive theatre, competing against local and international suppliers. It has meant very quickly learning how this market works both technically and from a customer relationship perspective.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the Mayerton team?
Teamwork, having that team spirit and being able to help and be helped when needed is just the best feeling.
How do you approach keeping up with industry changes and improving your skills?
With regular courses and research online and on site.
Is there a particular value or aspect of Mayerton culture that resonates with you? How does our company culture inspire you to take on challenges?
The Mayerton culture is not just to be a supplier but to be a “partner” with our customers this is what really resonates with me and makes me proud to be part of the Mayerton family.
What advice would you give to others who want to make a difference in their roles? How do you think your efforts make a difference to our customers or team?
Always be positive, with a “can do” attitude anything is possible
What skills or qualities do you bring that you feel enhance our team’s performance?
Hopefully my colleagues see that I am open and always positive to change and to give advice and support when required, never satisfied with just “ its ok” I want more than ok I want amazing !
What’s a memorable piece of advice or experience that shaped how you approach your work?
An old boss of mine many years ago said this to me and I have never forgotten it:
“no matter how good someone is at their job, if they don’t show up day after day then they are no good to me “
This is so important because reliability, consistency and “turning up” both physically and mentally every day is crucial to be able to give customers both internal and external that special service which makes Mayerton stand out from the crowd.
What part of your role do you look forward to each day?
Every morning when I log on and check my emails theirs a tinge of excitement as to what the day will bring, new challenges, old challenges , everyday projects it’s just the best.
What’s the best part of your day, and why?
My first MS Teams meeting or phone call, my first interaction with the team.
Anything else you wish to share
I always say to people outside of Mayerton, to family and friends that I am so lucky because I have 3 families:
-
- My actual family
- My work family (they really are like a family)
- My fitness family (I am a bit of a gym bunny)
They are all very important to me and each and every day make me feel proud and blessed.
